then let DAZ|Studio fill in the rest for you. Or, perhaps you've found
an interesting 3D character that you enjoy and would like to build a
scene around it. Either way, DAZ|Studio can be the means to bring
everything together into a stunning representation of your limitless
imagination.
DAZ|Studio is a free
software application that allows you to easily create beautiful
digital art. You can use this software to load in people, animals,
vehicles, buildings, props, and accessories to create digital scenes.
DAZ|Studio includes two pre-configured scenes ready for you to Load &
Render within DAZ|Studio. Just double-click on the scene thumbnails
inside of DAZ|Studio, and everything will come on screen posed, lit,
and ready for you to create a stunning digital image.
Features
DAZ Studio has an
intuitive user interface allowing the user to add and manipulate
models within the scene, add and manipulate morphs (body-shape
changes), adjust the textures applied to models, add and adjust
lighting and to fine-tune the ultimate render.
DAZ Studio is bundled with
a hard-linked (non-standalone) version of the 3Delight renderer. This
is a RenderMan-compliant high-end renderer, commonly used in
production of blockbuster visual effects. The renderer is perfectly
capable of rendering higher order surfaces like true subdivision
surfaces( already implemented in DAZ Studio) and supports true 3D
motion blur and depth of field. As of version 3.0 DAZ Studio has been
updated to exploit more of the available features of the 3Delight
render engine although some advanced features may still require use of
an exported scene file and the stand-alone version of the tool.
DAZ Studio does not yet
support dynamic hair, tapering of body parts, or (in the Mac OS X
version) texture maps in the PICT format. Dynamic Clothing support was
added with a plug-in released in 2009, however the Poser and DAZ
Studio implementations of Dynamic Clothing are mutually incompatible.
Other plug-ins provide alternate rendering, lighting, animation and
other capabilities.
DAZ Studio 3.0 was
released in June 2009, the basic DAZ Studio 3.0 follows the free
software model of earlier releases, retaining all previous features
while adding in several new ones. However also introduced is a
commercially available version, DAZ Studio 3.0 Advanced, introducing
several additional new features beyond those in the basic version.
